Lee A. Hutton, III

Head Commissioner

Lee A. Hutton, III is chief executive of the Arena Football League and has focused his talents on successfully growing the popularity of arena football with its new and different revitalized vision. Hutton makes the historical step toward being first African-American Commissioner in professional sports league traditional play. In a short time, the game of arena football has remarkably comeback to greatness under his leadership, including large audiences engagements, streaming opportunities and social media engagement. His success of this league has been immeasurable. Hutton has revamped the way teams engage in the sport of arena football and has added diverse ownership with league teams. For instance, Hutton has strategically partnered media outlets, celebrities, and USA Football to grow the sport and has focused on player safety. Hutton originates from Galveston, Texas where he was a highly recruited football and track athlete. He was awarded a scholarship to play football in the Big Ten with the Minnesota Gopher Football team. Afterwards, Hutton entered law school and became one of the top attorneys in Minnesota and also handled cases around the county. Hutton was also a sports agent for the NFL, NBA, WNBA and other sports representing athletes in contract negotiation, publicity rights, endorsement contracts, and post play realities. His clientele included Superbowl Champions, NBA Champions, Olympic Champions, and Reality TV personalities. During this time, Lee has tried more than 100 cases and has been named “Attorney of the Year” for his trial litigation work. He has also received several awards and recognition such as Forty Under 40, Up and Coming Attorney, Above the Fold, Distinguished Alumni, and has been named Super Lawyer and Rising Star every year since 2007.

Travelle Gaines

Chief Executive Officer

Travelle Gaines is the founder of Athletic Gaines which is one of the top performance companies in the country. Gaines is considered one of the premiere sports performance coaches in America. Travelle trains some of the top professional athletes in the nation including Jimmy Butler, Pascal Siakam, Saquan Barkley, Davonte Adams, Draymond Green and Bobby Wagner. In the past decade, Travelle has trained 5 NFL #1 Overall Picks, 47 NFL First-Round Picks, and 23 NBA First-Round Picks. Most notably, Myles Garrett, Anthony Barr, Bradley Roby, N’Keal Harry, Andrew Luck, Dion Jordan, Kyle Long, Jaylen Brown, Caris LeVert, Trae Young and Zhaire Smith all trained for the combine with Gaines. Since 2007, he has prepared hundreds of athletes for the NFL and NBA Combines and is recognized for helping athletes rise up the draft boards with their combine performances. As an Emmy Award winner, Gaines serves as a training subject-matter expert on several platforms including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Eastbay, NFL Network, and Bally Sports. Gaines has been a key instrumental force driving the business model of the arena football league. Gaines in his role as the CEO oversees all businesses, including broadcasting and partnerships. He also leads the development, negotiation and implementation of strategy for sponsors and partnerships.

Mike Mccoy

Deputy Commissioner

Mike McCoy joins the league after previously serving as the commissioner of the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league and brings 20+ years of experience in professional sports. In his new role, McCoy reports to Commissioner Lee A. Hutton III and CEO Travelle Gaines and will play an integral role in serving the needs of the Central Division. Over the course of his illustrious career, McCoy has worked in five different indoor leagues and overseen operations for four indoor teams, including Wichita Wild, Nebraska Danger, Louisville Fire and Wichita Falls Nighthawks. He also served as the athletic director for Southwestern College and worked as the wide receiver coach and on-campus recruiting coordinator at Kansas State University. McCoy has a Master of Science degree from Kansas University and taught Sports Marketing and Sports Finance classes at Wichita State University for over 10 years.

Matt Hines

Deputy Commissioner

Matt Hines joins the league to oversee operations of the league to assist operations of the arena football teams in the various conferences. Hines has been instrumental in preparing and drafting the Operations Manual with Commissioner Hutton, conducting business calls with the owners, and daily operations of the league. Hines is a graduate of Midland University. He would graduate with his bachelor's degree with a major in Human Performance. He also received his minor in Coaching while in attendance at Midland University. After graduating, he would return to his hometown and start his coaching career. Shortly after his first season of coaching, he relocated to Minnesota to become the Deputy Commissioner for the Arena Football League. While serving for the Arena Football League, he also continues his coaching career by becoming the Running Back coach at Wayzata High School in Wayzata, Minnesota.
